My “espalier” manner of growing cucumbers was good looking and good fun. It kept fruit out of the mud and made it easy to find and pick. I recommend it unqualifiedly, especially to those who have but limited garden space, as I do in my garden.

To make a fence for the vines to climb on I got three 8-foot lengths of pipe and drove them 2 feet into the ground at about equal intervals. I then strung two 3 foot widths of chicken wire between the posts and tied them at four or five points up the length of the posts with wire.

The soil was then dug deep on one side of the wire fence at five points, say 2 feet in from each end post and at three other equi-distant points between. This was done just far enough out from the wire fence so as not to touch it anywhere with a shovel.

The beds were only a foot wide and practically round. In the bottom I put 4 quarts of well-rotted manure and mixed it with the soil. On top of that I put some rich compost and leveled it off with regular garden soil. It was then ready for seed.

I have used the disease-resistant, drought-resistant hybrid cucumber seeds for years with great success. The vines do stay green longer and bear longer than the regular run-of-mine cucumbers. Also, with the hybrids the larger 8 and 10-inch fruit is tender, green, crisp and small-seeded, whereas the ordinary cucumber vines begin to wilt and get brown in about a month and the larger fruit develops large seeds. becomes yellow and loses its crispness.

I push about five of the hybrid seeds into each hill and pack it down firmly. If all five germinate and no accident befalls them thereafter, I pull out all but three. I put brush over them for a couple of weeks to keep off dogs and cats and water the seedlings frequently until they are well rooted. After that they can take care of themselves in all kinds of weather.

When the vines begin to topple over from their own weight, I begin to train them onto the chicken wire. Sometimes they can be strung through the openings in the wire and sometimes they need to be tied.

I use a thick, cotton yarn bought at the dollar store, wind it around the vine three times and three times around the wire and tie it. As more runners develop, each one is tied to the wire similarly. Some of the vines will find their own footing on the wire but they have to be watched as they grow rapidly. Some vines have to be tied once or twice a week to keep up with the 2or 3-inch daily growth.

It’s fun to watch little blossoms form into tiny cucumbers and then grow bigger and bigger each day.

More and more blossoms open and more and more tiny cucumbers develop until in a matter of a few weeks there are 6and 8-inch cucumbers there for you to pick off.

Some of them hang down through trellis or fabricated fences until they reach the ground. Some are knee high. Some waist high and some as high as your shoulder. When you pick them they are dry, clean and straight. No vines are trampled in looking for the fruit in a forest of leaves on muddy ground. Most of the fruit is in plain sight looking right at you. I have learned that for lack of knowledge many are destroyed, for as Paul stated, I have learned to be content in what ever state of life I am in.

For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more.

For me, knowing much about anything, is a blessing from God. I know much about little, but am still learning, and have endured many hardships.
For in this, I can understand many, and communicate with knowledge.
For a man to teach faith, he must have faith. For a man to teach trust, he must have learned, to trust. For a man to teach patience, he must have patience.
For a man to receive forgiveness, he, himself, must learn to forgive.
For though I be free from all men,(Free in the body, and choice.) yet have I made myself servant(Servant in the Gospel.) unto all(That will listen.), that I might gain the more.(That I might gain those that are lost for Christ.)
To some, my life , is rich, to others, my life is poor. Its all a matter of whom you ask, and how they perceive me.
Jesus was poor, but had all thing, He was alone, but never without the Father. He was hungry, but not without substance. He gave all He had, to gain the world.

And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews. I had to understand their ways, and laws, to insight them to learn about the Messiah. I had to learn, and come to love them as my brothers and sisters, though I was not of the House of Israel.
To them that are under the law, I had to learn the law, understanding why they have held onto their belief.
To them that are without law, being still under the judgment of God, to show them a better way, a better life and, a better covenant.
For I had to remember that at one time, I myself, was without law or obedience to no man. For at one time, we all worshiped devils and not God. This is fact and I lie not.

To the weak became I as weak, knowing how they feel, for at time, still today, I have known weakness, in body but not spirit. For as it is written, “The body is weak but the spirit is willing.” I can climb the highest mountains, swim the deepest seas, fly threw the heavens as an eagle, but only in spirit. For what the spirit can do, the body is unable to preform. This is the lesson that mankind must learn before it is too late. For this body must die, but the spirit is eternal.

I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. To those that are learned, I myself, am also learned. To those that are rich, I also am rich(Not as this world considers richness.) To those that are poor, I myself am poor(Understanding their life, for at times I was poor.)
To those with infirmities, I have also been gravely ill, there-by understanding their hopelessness and despair.
For those of a different language, I have been given tools to communicate with them.
For by knowing death, I can sympathize with those that loose loved ones.
Though this spirit is held in this body of flesh, it can still become all things to all men, there-by understanding all.
Do I hate? Yes, but not as this world hates, for I am in the world, but not of the world.
Does God hate? Yes, but only unrighteousness and sin. Is there an easy way to become all thing to all men? No, for this action must come from the spirit, and not of the body. Though a man know all languages and manner of life, without guidance, from God, he is still a tinkling symbol and a house of glass.

We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves. (Rom 15:1)
I am a success to some, and a failure to others.
I may be nothing to man, but I am a Servant to God. For do I try to please men or God? I am made all things to all men, not to please them, but rather to inform them of the righteousness and forgiveness of God.
For I cannot compromise my position(as an adopted Son of the most High.) with God to please men. For within men is no righteousness to be found. Ars.

We tend to think of term life, purchased by younger people. Perhaps we think of younger parents with kids who need support, a large home mortgage, or other debts. In this case, a term policy is meant to protect that growing family in the event that one of the breadwinners dies. But is the only use for coverage?

Americans are living longer and more productive lives today.

Small Business – There are many cases where only one heir will actually inherit a business. The death benefit can be a way to provide a buyout to the other children in a family. Say one daughter of a law firm owner becomes a lawyer herself. In time, she steps up to take over the law firm. To be fair to her siblings who have become teachers, the policy can buy them out.

Final Expense – Many seniors purchase a small face value whole life policy in order to provide money for their funerals, and to settle other debts. These are common, an designed to be easy for seniors to apply for.

So you can see that there are many reasons that people over 50, and even over 70, shop for life insurance policies sometimes. Is it hard to find coverage at older ages?

Since Americans are living longer, insurers are more willing to extend coverage. While a 70 year old cannot find 30 year term, they may be able to find a 10 – 15 year policy. They can also seek a permanent policy like whole or universal life.

This can be a part of a solid financial plan. There are other uses for senior policies too, like being able to explore the possibility of life settlements. Life settlements are cash settlements that are paid to older people for the sale of their policies. Not every person, and not every policy, qualifies, but for some this can also be a good way to do financial planning.

You can readjust the margins to ensure they fall within the print area or you can opt to print the document anyway, which will mean that some of the information on your page may not appear in the printed document. Put your dog on a leash. It will help her be more controlled by you. You can’t have her running around the house and this way if she does start to run, she won’t get very far.

Have someone help you. If you are dealing with a large or small dog, it is always great and so much easier to have someone there holding your dog.

Put a different collar on your dog. Normal collars tend to bleed and are really bad for dogs when they are wet. You need a collar to restrain your dog but use a different one so that your dog doesn’t get sores after a bath.

Brush your dog’s teeth before you give her a bath. Use a special toothpaste that is just for dogs. To help your dog with her teeth everyday, give her special bones to help her teeth. They will prevent rotting and dental problems in dog teeth.

Clean your dog’s ears. They get wax build up just like anyone else. Use a cotton ball and not a q-tip because the q-tips are too small and could go in too deep. Use a cleaning solution that you can buy from any pet store to help you. You need the cleaning solution because it helps your dog more than soap and water would.

Do everything else before you give your dog her bath. It will make everything else easier and that way if she somehow gets toothpaste on her hair, it will be washed off easily in the bath.

Use a dog hair dryer. Human blow dryers can burn your dog. Dog hair dryers are made special for them and really help a dog with little or tons of hair. If you use a human hair dryer to blow dry your dog’s hair, you will spend hours blow drying it.

Clean your dog’s eyes. The older a dog gets, the more gunk she has around her eyes. Use a special cleaning solution when cleaning your dog’s eyes. It will make it easier on you plus you shouldn’t be using anything else to clean her eyes.

Cut your dog’s nails. Dog nail have to be cut often. Check every time that you give your dog a bath. If your dog’s nails get too long, they can get infections or cause skeletal damage to the dog’s bones. Never cut into your dog’s pink part of her nails. It will cause tons of bleeding and will really hurt your dog. If you cut your dog’s nails and they start to bleed, put some corn starch on the nail and apply pressure. If the bleeding doesn’t stop soon, call or go to the vet immediately.

Brush your dog’s hair before you trim or wash it. It will get out any knots and really let you work the shampoo into the hair. Use a rake to get out any really big knots, dirt, and any loose hair.

Use a thicker comb when brushing your dog’s hair and then go over it again with a smaller comb. You don’t want to use a too small comb and really hurt the dog.

When you are trimming your dog’s hair, get it wet first. Then make sure that you cut small amounts off first and cut more off later if you want more off. Brush your dogs hair again after to make sure you like what you did.

Give your dog a bath with a shower attachment. Don’t put them in a tub full of water because you will just be washing them in dirty water. If you don’t have that option, drain the water often.

Give your dog a treat after you are done. Show him that you are proud and happy she did such a good job.
